What is Honor Flight?

The Honor Flight Network flies veterans from all over the country to visit THEIR memorials in Washington DC free of charge.  Our greatest need is greeters at the airport. Many of us assume that our veterans had a warm welcome when they arrived home and in most cases, that was just not true. Many veterans have told us that they didn’t receive ANY welcome home, and thought they were forgotten.  Our basic role is to meet, greet, and welcome with as much pomp and circumstance as we can muster. We decorate, play patriotic music, and thank them for their service.

Upcoming Performances

  • Saturday, 9/7 at 7:00 AM - Ashburn Honor Flight

    • This performance is for an Honor Flight coordinated event held at the Ashburn Volunteer Fire Department. We have been specifically asked to perform the national anthem and patriotic music for the veterans as they have a short breakfast and board coach buses to D.C. for a day visiting the memorials.

  • Saturday, 9/21 at 10:00 AM - Dulles Honor Flight - >>>> Sign up here! <<<<

    • This is held in the main arrivals terminal at Dulles Airport and is going to be a very large event. There are two incoming flights separated by about one hour that we will be playing for- and over 200 visitors. As we may be relocating to the lower level departure area for this event, it is essential all students have their parts memorized.

    • To perform in this event, students must participate in a mandatory rehearsal on Sunday, 9/15 at 4:30 PM. We will be running all the pieces twice from memory. Pizza will be provided!

Important Details for 9/21 Event

  4. We will have a run-through rehearsal the morning of  9/21 at 8:30 AM and head to the airport immediately after.  This will give us an opportunity to have an additional practice, that everyone's instrument is approximately in tune, and that our group arrives at the same time.  Plus, this will allow families to carpool if possible.
